Updates! R6V2 & Team Fortress 2

It doesn’t seem like PC gamers are getting the full range of updates to Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 that their console counter parts are this 4th of July. Why no updates for PC Ubi? Oh hang on I don’t live in North America and can’t play this game anyway - fix that first!

Rainbow Six Vegas 2

  • Added new gameplay features
  • Added UPnP support
  • Added HostName and Ping sort for Match selection
  • Fixed Some (3)Ping issues
  • Fixed Terrorist hunt Spawning
  • Fixed automatic weapons shoot without holding the trigger
  • Fixed spawn with leader in Streets map
  • Fixed Custom search issues

Team Fortress 2

  • Fixed a memory leak affecting both clients and servers
  • Fixed a malicious packet exploit

SiN Episode(s) On The Cheap

2006’s SiN Episodes: Emergence has been slashed down to $4.99 until July 7th. I found this episode really enjoyable when it came out and definitely worth 5 bucks, but with a cliffhanger ending and no sign that they will ever continue the series don’t expect to get much in the way of closure.

Day of Defeat: Source - Palermo (Bye Bye Beta)

The DOD Source beta has now been wrapped and merged into the main game as of today. The update is called Palermo after the dod_palermo map bundled with the update. The patch includes the achievements, stats tracking and all the other updates we have mentioned previously in our beta updates. Go get it!

Heavy Gets Next Update, TF2 Dev Going Transparent

Valve have confirmed that the Heavy class will receive the next update pack in Team Fortress 2. This confirmation comes from the official TF2 blog (now with added RSS) which Valve are going to use to open up the development process of these updates.

In the heavy update they go into what issues need to be addressed and how the game should be balanced. The feed is definately worth subscribing to if you like to keep track of the inner workings of the mothership.

Stronghold Crusader Extreme and Insecticide Part 1 Released

Gamecock have pushed their first two titles on to Steam and around the world today. Stronghold Crusader Extreme and Insecticide Part 1 are now available for $29.99 and $14.99 respectively. I played Stronghold back in the day and quite enjoyed it and the extreme edition certainly seems to warrant the name after looking at the crazy numbers of units that can be on the screen at one time.

More TF2 Bug Fixes

Here’s the scoop:

  • Fixed backburner’s flame critical hits not being recalculated after
collision. This meant that it would check if the target was looking
away once and after that the flame could score a critical hit again
    even if the orientation changed
  • Added back some damage falloff to the Pyro’s flamethrower. Not nearly as extreme as it was before the Pyro class pack
  • Fixed bug that caused Demomen to take a small amount of extra damage from their own grenades and fly farther using them
  • Fixed spy getting stuck in players after removing his disguise
  • Fixed spy stabbing and being able to go invisible instantly
  • Fixed spy disguised as enemy medic being able to spam voice commands
  • Fixed buffed health not decaying properly after being healed by a dispenser
  • Selectable menus can now be operated with number keys even if they are not bound to slot1, slot2, etc.
  • Removed the remaining speed adjustments for carrying intelligence (a couple of game modes still reduced your maxspeed)
  • Fixed a buildable item placement bug where the object would not rotate after the user tried to place in an invalid location

New Casual and Adventure Games

Jack Keane and Planet Busters are now available on Steam for $26.99 and $8.99 respectively. Jack Keane appears to be a traditional style point and click adventure game in the vein of those Lucasarts classics. Planet Busters is a puzzle action game with a scifi theme but best of all it has 9 Steam achievements to collect!

The Week’s Updates: TF2, COD4 & Audiosurf

The bug fixing continued this week for some of top titles on Steam.

Team Fortress 2

  • Reduced
Medic’s unlockable requirements to match that of the Pyro’s. Medic
players now meeting the requirements will receive their unlockables
    shortly after joining a server
  • Fixed Spy sapper viewmodel animation popping
  • Fixed another issue with the Hot on your Heels achievement
  • Incorporated
the new Russian fonts into the base Team Fortress 2 fonts. Fixes the
missing fonts problem when running in Russian with English VO

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

  • Fixed an exploit that allowed players to access certain console dvars during multi-player matches
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when a Chinatown Sabotage match would go into over-time
  • Fixed a bug where the MP icons (Bomb, Defend, Capture, etc) were always showing up as English regardless of the install language

Audiosurf

  • Added special track conditions for upcoming radio songs
  • Restored normal Mono scoring
  • Enabled Pointman to throw blocks into lane four on 4-lane songs

The Week’s Releases: Pacific Storm, Tree Friends & More

Time for a catch up. These games were released on Steam in the past week.

Pacific Storm ($15.99)

Happy Tree Friends False Alarm ($23.99)

RACE 07 Addon: Andy Priaulx Crowne Plaza Raceway (Free)

Couple of new games

It’s been a bit crazy at Steam Report HQ the last few days - John and I have been consolidating our abode (that’s moving in to a new house together for those of us who talk normally), and the house looks like a bomb site.

While we’ve been doing this, a coupld of games have been released - Crazy Machines 2 a strategy game that looks a bit like the calssic Incredible Machine (trailer available) and Out of the Park Baseball. Not much else to say about them except that if you’re interested, check them out for $19.99 and $39.99 respectively.
