Yeah, with "they" I meant publisher as I think Valve probably has nothing to do with the price changes (or then make it available for publishers). I don't blame Steam or Valve but I do blame the publishers for doing this kind of thing.

But we don't pay VAT here in the UK on Steam (i don't think, unless i've missed it every time), so there must be some allowance in the prices for this...
I do resent paying store price when there is no physical goods. I think that needs to be seen to quickly.
The other reason of course could be that the developers are setting the prices, and at the end of the day, this is probably likely. In which case, we cant blame steam or valve, although they should perhaps be pushing for a universal pricing structure

Just greed, Valve doesn't change their price per country, we have to pay VAT on top of the game price (CoD4 is $69.99 + $14.70 Tax = $84.69 Total Price).

It's the only logical reason, the dollar is weak so they jack the price up so that it matches the price they sell in stores (store price for a CoD4 is $77.00 converted from euros).

So now buying in Steam is more expensive and leaves a taste of getting riped off in your mout...

That's really interesting KI - didn't realise there was such a discrepancy. That really is quite bad. The only genuine point I can think of that would give them a valid reason to sell with different prices is different Tax rates. I don't know whether thats the case, but maybe we'll look into it deeper here at Steam Report soon...

They show some love for the entire planet, but equal? Lets have small look at Soldier of fortune:
http://www.steamgames.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=7980&cc=US (39.99 for US as in the post)

http://www.steamgames.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=7980&cc=NL (54.99 for the Netherlands) and that is excluding VAT that comes on top of that price.

UK (where you probably got the price from) has the same as the US but the rest of Europe pays more. Same continent, just different countries and we pay more? Not really equal love i'd say ;)

Its the same for Iron Man and a lot of other games on Steam.
Oh well, I'm glad they atleast had the decency to publish them worldwide. Glass is half full :)
